Werewolf Rising (2014): A Macabre Review.
Starring Melissa Carnell, Bill Oberst Jr., Matt Copko
Directed by BC Furtney
Greetings you lovable creatures. Today I'm taking the opportunity to do my very first review of a werewolf-themed horror movie. Werewolf Rising is a low budget entry from Ruthless Pictures and Image Entertainment, and I was fortunate to have gotten a copy of the movie for reviewing purposes. So let's get into it and see what you're in for.

Under The Bed (2012): A Macabre Review.
Starring Jonny Weston, Gattlin Griffith, Peter Holden
Directed by Steven C. Miller
I don't believe there are too many people out there who, as little kids, had some level of fear about some creature that might be hiding under the bed, in the closet, or anywhere where shadows can hide it from the light. I personally never had a fear of anything in my closet or under my bed, but the basement in the house I grew up in was a different story, which is odd since I spent a fair mount of time there during daylight hours. But I digress.

Absentia (2011): A Macabre Review.
Starring Katie Parker, Courtney Bell, Dave Levine
Directed by Mike Flanagan
Indie horror has been pretty hit and miss for me over the years, and it's because of this that I rarely get high hopes when I dive into the next one. And as I've mentioned in the past, I can no longer trust trailers thanks to movies like The Apparition and Chernobyl Diaries, which promised good things but failed to deliver.

Devil's Due (2014): A Macabre Review.
Starring Allison Miller, Zach Gilford
Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett
Aaand we're back. This time I'm tackling Devil's Due, directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. This appears to be the debut feature-length directing gig for both of them, so I'm sure both their powers combined can come up with a great full length movie, right?

Insidious Chapter 2 (2013): A Macabre Review.
Starring Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye
Directed by James Wan
Well, I saw Insidious: Chapter 2 last night. I was going into it with a fair amount of optimism, as I did enjoy the first Insidious despite it's relatively high number of jump scares. The characters were well done, most of the jump scares were pretty effective, and while the last third of the movie got kind of strange with the whole astral projection trip into "The Further," all in all it was a good time. So now I'll talk about the sequel and if it's worth a trip to the cinema.

The Conjuring (2013): A Macabre Review.
Starring Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga, Lily Taylor
Directed by James Wan
Well hello there. I just finished watching The Conjuring a little while ago, and am here to give my thoughts on it. I wasn't really sure what to expect from this, as I've been reluctant to trust trailers after the disasters that were The Apparition and Chernobyl Diaries. But the word on this movie was good, so I thought I'd see for myself.

When The Lights Went Out (2012): A Macabre Review.
Starring Kate Ashfield, Tasha Connor, Steven Waddington
Directed by Pat Holden
Greetings once again. After the bad time I had watching Knife Edge, I felt I needed to give British films a chance to redeem itself. However, not with something I had already seen, but something new that would hopefully grab and hold my attention. Enter When The Lights Went Out. With The Conjuring soon to be released in theater, I figured a good haunted house movie would be fitting. So let's not waste any time, and dive right in.

The Last Exorcism 2 (2013): A Macabre Review.
I still get a chuckle at this poster, I won't lie. |
Starring Ashley Bell, Julia Garner, Spencer Treat Clark
Directed by Ed Gass-Donnelly
So, The Last Exorcism 2. With this sequel it has now become the Final Fantasy of movies in terms of its title. I never got to see this on the big screen, but since it was released on DVD yesterday I thought I'd take a look and see what I missed. So let's not waste time, and get right into it.

Stitches (2012): A Macabre Review.
Starring Ross Noble, Tommy Knight, Gemma-Leah Devereaux
Directed by Conor McMahon
Greetings, fellow horror lovers. I'm gonna be honest with you. I'm not what you would call the biggest fan of horror movies involving clowns as the antagonists. Now don't get me wrong, I totally get why they're used. There are a LOT of people out there who are creeped out, if not outright frightened of them, and so it makes perfect sense why they're used in horror. I personally am not scared of them in the slightest. When it comes down to it, they're just people with painted faces, and I'm no more or less scared of them than I am of any regular person on the street. Which is why when I do watch movies involving clowns, I prefer to lean towards the movies where the clowns have some supernatural aspect to them. Unless they're from space like the Killer Klowns, which is still my favorite clown-based movie.

The Haunting of Whaley House (2012): A Macabre Review.
Starring Arielle Brachfeld, Alex Arleo, Stephanie Greco
Directed by Jose Prendes
Ah, The Asylum. They never cease to surprise me. Whenever I dive into one of their movies I'm never sure what I'm going to be in for. There's a near constant back-and-forth between good cheesy fun, and high levels of boredom and out-loud groans. The paranoia of another possible bad experience followed me into the movie like a loyal dog at my side. But enough banter, let's get into The Haunting of Whaley House, shall we?
