Formula For A Murder (1985): A Macabre Review.

Formula For A Murder
Starring Christina Nagy, David Warbeck, Carroll Blumenberg
Directed by Alberto De Martino

It's been a while since I reviewed something a little older, and thanks to the nice people at Shameless Films, I'll be doing just that today.  It's a return to Italy for a review of Formula For a Murder (aka 7, Hyden Park: La Casa Maledetta).  Although,  it's not exactly a return to Italy per se, as the movie itself takes place in New York City.  Well, you get what I'm saying.  Let's begin.

Rabid Love (2013): A Macabre Review.

Rabid Love
Starring Hayley Derryberry, Jessica Sonneborn, Brandon Stacy
Directed by Paul J. Porter

If I had to pick my favorite decade for horror, it would have to be the 80s.  Sure, the 80s had some horrible movies like any other decade, but it also had some of horror's most memorable characters, one-liners, and practical effects.  And when someone tries to capture the 80s feel for their movie it definitely piques my interest.  It also worries me a little, for fear that the movie will fail utterly in that regard.

Exhumed (2011): A Macabre Review.

Exhumed
Starring Debbie Rochon, Sarah Nicklin, Michael Thurber
Directed by Richard Griffin

For today's review I'm traveling back to the magical year of 2011.  At least I think it was magical, I don't really remember a whole lot about that year.  And no, alcohol wasn't a factor.  Ok, it wasn't a HUGE factor.  Anyway,  I've watched a LOT of horror in my time, but there is an equal (or maybe even greater) amount that I still have yet to see.  Enter Exhumed, a movie that I'm embarrassed to say escaped my radar until recently.  This is thanks to Rob at the wonderful Wild Eye Releasing, who was nice enough to send me a goodie-bag (or box in this case) of horror flicks to watch and review.

Head Cases: Serial Killers In The Delaware Valley (2013): A Macabre Review.

Head Cases
Starring Paul McCloskey, Brinke Stevens, Mark Cray
Directed by Anthony Spadaccini

It's serial killer time here at the Necropolis Macabre, and today I'm talking about Head Cases: Serial Killers In The Delaware Valley.  My thanks go to director Anthony Spadaccini, who was nice enough to hook me up with a screener earlier in the week.  It's been a while since I watched either a serial killer movie or a mockumentary, so let's get into it and see what I thought of this.

GUT (2012): A Macabre Review.

GUT
Starring Jason Vail, Nicholas Wilder, Sarah Schoofs
Directed by Elias

Today I talk about GUT, a movie I was requested to watch and review by Anna Ganster, who produced the movie.  My thanks to Anna for providing the screener link.  I had meant to review this a little earlier, but those real-world distractions had it in mind to delay me as much as possible.  But I'm here now, and I'm going to review this movie before I get delayed again.

Writings of a Madman: The Winged Woman

Looking upon her, she had all the likeness of an angel.  Her lips were ruby-red with the most entrancing smile.  Her hair was blonde, and had a faint glow as if it were lightly dipped in pure sunlight.  From her back hung a pair of wings, blacker than the night sky, an odd juxtaposition to her flowing blonde locks.

But it was the eyes that betrayed her outward appearance.  Staring into them, I saw her true nature.  It was the nature of a demon, a demon who offered carnal pleasures unlike anything a mere mortal could provide.  A demon who wanted to torture and feed off your very soul in return for said pleasures.

The beautiful creature held her arms out to embrace me, and I walked willingly into them; for this was what I set out to find.  Her black wings spread open and she took me away, to a place where nobody would ever find us, and where my unnatural desires would finally be realized.  I will never want for anything again.

Coyote (2013): A Macabre Review.

Coyote
Starring Bill Oberst Jr., Victoria Mullen
Directed by Trevor Juenger

I wasn't originally intending to do back to back reviews that starred Bill Oberst Jr., but a few days back Bill was nice enough to provide me with a screener link for Coyote, so I figured why not?  I'm not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth.  Where the hell did that phrase come from?  It makes no sense to me.  Anyway, let's get into the review.

Continues Flanagan, Afflicted is one of the most suspenseful and original horror debuts we’ve seen in a long time. You think you’re going on one journey, then holy crap it takes you somewhere totally different. It’s a real audience pleaser.”

Necropolis Update (March 10, 2014)

Hello my fellow Horrorati.  It's been a while since I did an update.  That's mainly because for a while there was nothing new that was really worth making an update post about.  So i decided to wait until enough things happened to make it a decent sized post.

Children Of Sorrow (2014): A Macabre Review.

Children of Sorrow
Starring Bill Oberst Jr., Hannah Levien, Whitney Nielsen

Directed by Jourdan McClure

"He Lied".  Well if that's an understatement, I don't know what is.  Today I'm talking about Children of Sorrow, a movie that just came out on DVD on March 4th.  I wanted to go in fresh with this one, so I did my best to read as little about the movie as possible.  What happened next was an experience, to say the least.

Dead Of The Nite (2013): A Macabre Review.

Dead of the Nite
Starring Cicely Tennant, Joseph Millson, Tony Todd
Directed by S.J. Evans

What's this?  An Indy horror with Tony Todd?  Why, yes please.  Such movies seem like they'll be a real treat, but the problem is that quite often, when these amazing stars are gaining such attention for the movies they are in, the fact of the matter is that they don't usually have much screen time.  Much like the first time I watched Hatchet.  I was excited when I heard that Tony Todd was in it, just to be let down when his all of five-minute tops scene was all I got (I still enjoyed the movie, mind you).
