Halloween: Resurrection: The Halloween Retrospective.

Halloween: Resurrection
Starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Busta Rhymes, Katee Sackhoff
Directed by Rick Rosenthal

So here we are, the final Halloween review for the year.  In case I haven't mentioned it, I'll not be including Rob Zombie's Halloween movies with this retrospective, though I may share my thoughts sometime down the road.  Halloween: Resurrection was released in 2002 and directed by Rick Rosenthal, who also directed Halloween 2.  So that's pretty promising right there.  Jamie Lee Curtis even returns to reprise her role as Laurie Strode.  So this has all the makings of another classic, right?  Well...

Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers: The Halloween Retrospective

Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers
Starring Donald Pleasance, Paul Rudd, Marianne Hagan
Directed by Joe Chappelle

Well, here we go again.  After giving myself a little break after suffering through the atrocity that was Halloween 5, I'm back at it to continue the path I set for myself.  Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers was released in 1995, and takes place six years after the events of Part 5.  Directing this time was done by Joe Chappelle, who later went on to direct in a number of TV shows, including Fringe and CSI NY and Miami.  Does Chappelle have what it takes to put the series back on track?

Carrie (2013): A Macabre Review.

Carrie 2013 Poster
Starring Chloe Grace Moretz, Julianne Moore, Gabriella Wilde,
Directed by Kimberly Peirce

Greetings.  I finally got around to seeing Carrie this week.  To be honest, I wasn't exactly chomping at the bit to see it.  It didn't seem like it was going to suck per se, but it looked to be no different from the original from the 80s.  But the horror part of my brain (which actually makes up about 80% total brain usage) got the better of me, and I gave in.  Can director Kimberly Peirce one-up Brian De Palma's version?  Let's find out.

Halloween 5: The Halloween Retrospective.

Halloween 5

Hello again.  Last time we got Michael Myers offing quite a large number of people, yet somehow was unable to kill a ten-year old kid.  Since Halloween 4  did make a profit, logically another one had to be made.  With the number of flaws Part 4 had, and director Dominique Othenin-Girard running things, the series can only go up from here, can't it?  Well let's get right into Halloween 5, and see what direction it did take.

Halloween 4: The Halloween Retrospective

Halloween 4
Starring Donald Pleasance, Danielle Harris, Ellie Cornell
Directed by Dwight H. Little

Well, the people cried out for it, and they were heard.  Halloween 4 meant the triumphant return of Michael Myers.  And his return was well-timed too, as Halloween 4 was released ten years after the first Halloween.  It has been a while since I've seen the movie I'll be discussing today, so we'll see how it holds up in my eyes after all this time.

Halloween 3: The Halloween Retrospective

Halloween 3
Starring Tom Atkins, Stacy Nelkin, Dan O'Herlihy
Directed by Tommy Lee Wallace

So, Michael Myers has apparently died.  Where do we go from here?  Well, Halloween 3 answers that question for you.  The Halloween series was originally planned as an anthology series, in which the movie I'm about to review is just part of the plan.  However, it's gotten a lot of hate over the years due to not sticking to the first two movies.  But is it really such a bad movie?  Well, I'll just go right ahead and let you know what I think of it.

Halloween 2: The Halloween Retrospective

Halloween 2
Starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Donald Pleasance, Lance Guest
Directed by Rick Rosenthal

Well, here we are again.  Back when I was growing up on horror, the concept of watching horror series in order didn't seem to be such an important detail.  I was just a kid who wanted to watch horror movies, period.  Halloween 2 wasn't a movie I watched right away.  In fact, I'm pretty sure I watched part 4, part 5, and part 3 in that order before I even got around to watching part 2.  And it's only been in the last year that I've actually gotten around to watching Halloween 2 again.  Being that I barely remembered what happened in it, it was almost like watching it again for the first time.  And today I'm going to review it with a (slightly) more mature mind and let you know what I think about it.

Duncan's (Ken Marino) life is a real pain in the ass. Tormented by a manipulative, crooked boss (Patrick Warburton), a nagging mother (Mary Kay Place), a deadbeat new age dad (Stephen Root), and a sweet, yet pressuring, wife (Gillian Jacobs), his mounting stress starts to trigger an insufferable gastrointestinal reaction.

Out of ideas and at the end of his rope, Duncan seeks the help of a hypnotherapist (Peter Stormare), who helps him discover the root of his unusual stomach pain: a pintsized demon living in his intestine that, triggered by excessive anxiety, forces its way out and slaughters the people who have angered him. Out of fear that his intestinal gremlin may target its wrath on the wrong person, Duncan attempts to befriend it, naming it Milo and indulging it to keep its seemingly insatiable appetite at bay.

This is it!!  it's finally October, and the countdown to Halloween has truly begun.  And what kind of blog would I be running if I didn't do something to celebrate one of our favorite times of the year.  So this October, I'm going to take the time to look back at one of the most popular horror series ever, which has one of the most iconic horror villain of all time: Michael Myers.
